Monika Martišková je výskumníčkou na Katedre sociálneho rozvoja a práce Národohospodárskej fakulty Ekonomickej univerzity v Bratislave, v Central European Labour Studies Institute (CELSI) v Bratislave a na Katedre sociálnej geografie a regionálneho rozvoja na Karlovej univerzite v Prahe. Zameriava sa na pracovnoprávne vzťahy a kolektívne vyjednávanie v krajinách strednej a východnej Európy, najmä v automobilovom priemysle.
Vo svojom najnovšom výskume sa venuje vplyvom dekarbonizácie na trh práce a pracovné podmienky v priemyselných sektoroch. Podieľala sa na viacerých výskumných projektoch podporených Európskou komisiou, ktoré sa zameriavali na reakcie sociálnych partnerov na výzvy trhu práce v Česku a na Slovensku v súkromnom aj verejnom sektore.
Zúčastnila sa tiež viacerých výskumných projektov týkajúcich sa príjmových nerovností, regionálnych rozdielov či aktívnych politík trhu práce v Slovenskej republike a Českej republike. Má skúsenosti s kvalitatívnou aj kvantitatívnou analýzou dát.
V roku 2022 obhájila na Karlovej univerzite svoju dizertačnú prácu na tému práce v globálnych výrobných sieťach, ktorú skúmala na príklade odborových zväzov v automobilovom priemysle v Česku a na Slovensku.
