Financie a dane

Program vedie študentov k dôkladnému pochopeniu finančných teórií, problémov a otvorených otázok tak, aby študenti boli schopní formulovať presvedčivé odborné argumenty na vysvetlenie súvislostí vo financiách, medzinárodných financiách a daniach. Program má aj praktické zameranie na zdokonaľovanie zručností v práci s metódami a dátami, a ako aj informáciami. Tieto znalosti sú vysoko oceňované zamestnávateľmi v SR a v zahraničí. Absolventi sú totiž schopní navrhovať a uskutočniť vhodné postupy a riešenia v rámci procesov vo verejnom a podnikovom sektore, vo verejných a podnikateľských financiách, ako aj v daniach na rôznych úrovniach riadenia, správy a podnikania a to aj v medzinárodnom rozsahu.

Tie mu umožňujú kvalifikovane zhodnotiť sociálno-ekonomický vývoj, hľadať inovatívne riešenia pri tvorbe verejných politík a riadiť proces ich zavádzania.

Applied Economics (in English)

Graduates of the master study program Applied Economics master the empirical economics and work with data and statistics, which gives them a significant competitive advantage in the market, and they can find employment in various fields. The most often they work as economic analysts and specialists either in private or public sector, including management positions in the regional, national or international level. Within the private sector or non-profit organisations, they can be employed in positions that require comprehensive economic knowledge and analytical skills. Among the typical jobs in the private sector one can include positions in analytic teams of large companies (such as business analyst, data manager or economic consultant. In the public sector, graduates work in leading positions dealing with economic analysis and forecasting, analysis and setting of the public policy, financial analysis etc. The graduate has general and professional knowledge in the field of micro and macroeconomics, data analysis and policy evaluation of a strategic decisions, which can be applied in specialized areas, such as industrial, behavioural, labour market, urban or regional economics, or economic development. Graduate can apply knowledge to evaluate and solve innovative problems in broader sectoral, regional, national, and international contexts. He can monitor, critically classify, and implement the latest knowledge, apply economic and social principles, as well as the principles of ethical behaviour in the academic and work environment, is able to continuously learn and accept a constructive form of criticism. The graduate is able to integrate knowledge of various areas, while he can formulate judgments even in an environment of limited information and a changing dynamic environment. In his work he can apply advanced knowledge and skills of economics, econometrics, statistics, and economic analysis and forecasting to assess the impact of evets, measures and decisions, analysis of efficiency and productivity, or complex structural contexts and spatial aspects. The graduate is able to apply advanced methods of economic research to the analysis of cross-sectional, spatial, and panel data and time series, using modern software. The graduate can present and defend his arguments at the professional level in front of professional audience as well as in front of the public. He is able to manage work groups even in a complex environment that requires new approaches and critical thinking, takes responsibility for the work of the whole group and can evaluate the achievement of performance indicators not only of analytical teams. The graduate is internationally applicable and able to work in a multinational field. The graduate of this study program may continue his/her doctoral studies in a related study program.

The study program Economics prepares graduates capable of conducting original research at the frontier of knowledge from an international perspective, addressing the fundamental economic issues of our time. Its graduates have a thorough knowledge of economics and its applications in various fields, the ability to think systematically and can creatively use quantitative methods to solve fundamental economic problems. They acquire skills and competencies from leading economists and at the same time develop their own research program. They will find their application in academic positions in the international environment, in executive positions in the public sector, as the main executives in the private sector, but also in renowned research and international organizations. They can gain positions at universities, as researchers in central banks and other domestic and international institutions, or as consultants or other professionals in the private sector. The university's extensive international ties allow students to attend courses taught by experts from leading universities around the world (such as University of Vienna and WU Wien, University of Coimbra, CERGE-EI, Chapman University) in addition to internationally recognized domestic university teachers. Students devote themselves independently to the original research program, which is closely supervised and led by faculty members. In this regard, they cooperate mainly with their supervisor. Regular research seminars with invited foreign experts, a doctoral research seminar, and other academic activities contribute to their own development towards a personality who can take responsibility for conducting research in a given scientific or professional field, present research results to the international professional community, and contribute to the development of the society in the context of scientific and technical progress.

The study program is taught in English. It prepares graduates who are competitive in the international labor market. It reflects the fact that economic research at the European level is conducted in English. It contributes to the internationalization and openness of education at the UEBA Faculty of National Economy. It takes place through international cooperation with partner institutions, active involvement of foreign professors and lecturers in teaching and research activities and seminars of doctoral students.

Graduates of the doctoral program “Finance”, i.e. the highest level of university studies, are prepared to use latest modern research methods and to explore the full spectrum of current theoretical and practical issues in the broader area of finance. Graduate is profiled by advanced expertise in theories of finance, baking and insurance. They master complicated quantitative methods, model simulations and methodologies which enable them to creatively assess basic economic and financial context and conduct research in this field. After graduation, they will be able to independently formulate research questions or hypotheses in the field of finance, banking and insurance and conduct research by using appropriate methods. In addition, graduate has extensive knowledge of macroeconomic, global, European and political context. Doctoral scholars acquire critical thinking, propose solution to complex problems independently, also interdisciplinary issues and work as member of scientific team. They will also be able to analyse and evaluate complex practical and conceptual issues, propose appropriate solutions within institutions and processes in public and corporate sector, banking, public finance, taxes and on various levels of management, business administration, including in international context. Under the cotutelle scheme with Macquarie University Sydney, students have the opportunity to complete their profile, knowledge and international experience by completing a double PhD diploma with this renowned university in Australia. They also have the opportunity to complete internships at the OECD, use the Laboratory for Financial Analysis (established within the Excellence project) and the Laboratory of Experimental Economics. In terms of employability perspectives, graduates have perspectives as top analysts and specialists in public sector, financial and non-financial organisations, but also as academic researchers. 

Their scientific and methodological background provide them employability perspectives in various international and national institutions, especially in those of financial, monetary and insurance specialisation.
