Short bio:

Flavio Malnati is a Ph.D. candidate at the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) in Prague, Czech Republic. His research focuses on long-term economic development, economic history, and geographical economics, with a particular interest in the role of the state in shaping pre-industrial development. 

One of his notable works is titled "Deus Vult! Military Capacity and Economic Development in the Teutonic-Order State," where he investigates how a state's military capacity can foster early economic development before the emergence of modern states. 

In addition to his research, Flavio has experience in teaching. He has served as a lecturer in Economic Policy at the undergraduate level from 2022 to 2024 at the University of Economics in Bratislava, through the CERGE-EI Teaching Fellowship. He also worked as a teaching assistant for the M.A. level course "Stress-testing and Forecasting" in Spring 2021 at CERGE-EI. 

He is currently on the 2024-2025 academic job market
