Behavioral research group around BEE4R lab of the Faculty of Economics and Finance coorganized another behavioral research seminar with prominent guest professor Sudipta Sarangi.
Sudipta is head of the department of Economics at Virginia Tech, Research Associate at Lima School of Economics and Fellow of Global Labor Organization. His main interests are focused arround Applied Game Theory, Experiments and Development Economics.
His teaching, research and work for community was recognized and he was awarded among others by College of Science Outreach Excellence Award and Faculty Research Fellow 2021, Kellogg Center for Politics, Philosophy and Economics, Virginia Tech as well as by AEA Award for Department with Outstanding Achievements in Diversity & Inclusion in 2021. Sudipta Sarangi is an author of bestseller book Economics of small things.
In his talk he presented promising results of field experiment aiming the increas of interest of highschool girls to study STEM programs he and his co-authors run in Peru. In the light of gender gap in STEM area and considering jobs in this area to be paid better than others this is one of endeavors to improve gender equality on job market.
